My Kumho MX tires have been on for +13K miles with lots of tread left, and cost less than $780.00, installed, at Discount Tire Co. back on 9/25/03.
However, I've been wondering if the Nitto 555R or 555R2s would hook up better?

Just got a set of Avon's from tire rack, they look real nice, real good reveiws and really great price. Even if they don't hold up real well, I can buy 2 sets for the price of 1 set of Goodyears or Michelin.
The guy a tire rack said they be less noisey because they're not directional.

I have 2 sets of wheels and tires Kuhmos and pilot sports, to me it seems the Kuhmos are noiser at slow speeds than the sports, they are about the same at freeway speeds. It seems the Kuhmos handle better in the dry I use them for solo II. The pilot sports are alot better in the rain, I live in the northwest we used to get alot of rain.

Go back to Tirerack.com,
check out the Pirelli PZero Nero.
they're one of the best as well, I had a Goodyear store order them for me,
Only cost me $810. including all warrantees and roadside.

Running Nitto 555's since May 2002 (99 Coupe, auto) and they have 30,000 miles on them and the lack of wear is incredible..
Did a seven week, 12,000+ mile drive on them this past Sept/Oct and they performed great...
AS I recall, I paid around $800 total... at America Tire Center.
Have been reading a lot of good things about the Kuhmos also..
The only "knock" I have on the Nitto is purely a "visual one". I like the tread pattern, but the edges of the tire are less squared off than some of the other tires out there, such as the Kuhmos, Goodyears, Michelin's, etc...
My experience thus far is that "dollar for dollar", I don't think you'll find a better tire....... and the way these things are wearing it may be a real long time before I have to go out and research new tires...
Good luck....

Get a bunch of roadside warrenties and just have them toe it if it goes flat fast. I'd think with all the goodyear and discount tire stores around, that wouldnt' be a problem.....then again I live in Dallas.

Guess most of us have replaced them with something better, so that should tell you something about the runcraps....
My runcraps were very loud and noisey, and very bumpy, my Pirelli PZero Nero's are quiet and smooth. Nice ride and they look cool.

What part, where at??
I live in Coppell/Valley Ranch, work in Addison, you ever drive around N. Dallas-Grapevine area?
If you do you'll see me, I'm the 02 coupe, black beauty with chrome rims and red brakes. (well, I guess that narrows it down to about 40,000)

I have the Kumho Ecsta MX but I only got 16,000 miles on the rear tires and I don't smoke em. Now I'm looking for tires that cost like Kumhos but have a higher wear rating
