seems like it missing sum metal near the gear on the lower left or is that ok??

are you posititve? i dont mean the big hole were you can see the gear. im refuring to the lip piece thats missing right in front of the gear? thanks pat

That looks normal to me. Here are a couple of shots of the 3.42 off my '02 and the 3.90 off my buddy's '98.
