Default Amsoil gear oil question

I'm hoping to change my trans. and diff. fluids this weekend, but I can only find Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 locally at Off Road Warehouse.

Would it be OK to use this instead of the Long Life 75W-90 Gear Lube?

Any and all input is appreciated

Yes!!!

The new Severe Gear 75w90 is AMSOILs new top of the line gear lube and is specifically designed for the high temp conditions in a modern high performance differential like ours. This lube replaced the Series 2000 75w90 that I have been using. I'll switch to it when my supply of the Series 2000 runs out.

Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions.

Is the Posi Additive still required with the Amsoil gear lube?

Redline states that's its not needed with their gear lube. . .

Amsoil says that ther additive is not needed, but I have found that a little helps insure that you have no clutch chatter.

Thanks Subdriver

As a couple others have already asked on the thread, do I need the Slip-Lock Differential Additive also, or is it already in the new gear lube?

Here is AMSOIL's exact quote on this issue:
"AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR™ is compatible with most limited slip differentials. If limited slip differential chatter occurs, add AMSOIL Slip-Lock™ friction modifier additive."

AMSOIL, like Redline, add the friction modifier to their gear lubes, but in lower quantities than adding a full 4oz bottle of the friction modifier. Personally, I have been using AMSOIL's gear lube for over a year now on my stock, original diff which has seen years of abuse and I do not add the friction modifier. My diff does not chatter. I suggest you try it without the friction modifier and if you notice chatter in tight corners, add a bottle.

When ordering via the AMSOIL Online Store, here are some product codes that will help you find what you need faster via the search bar on the right side of AMSOILs online store. Please use referral number 1206638 to credit sales to my dealership and hence benefit this site. Thanks.

Severe Gear 75w90, Product SVGQT (1 quart amount)
