Default Fuel Filter Replacement.."98"

I would like to know the number of fuel filters are on a 1998 model. I read somewhere there are two. I know the filters to use are without pressure regulators, but want to know if I will replace one or two.

Thanks

You replace one... it is located just in front of the LR wheel well. Go out and get yourself a fuel line removal tool.. they cost $2 at an auto store.

There's only 1 that I know of and when your done replacing it you'll think you just did 10.
It's mounted in the rear of the tunnel above the left exhaust pipe, so you will need to have the car raised up high enough to get under it.
I would purchase a new exhaust flange gasket before I tried to replace the filter though. You may have to drop the rear over the axle pipe to gain enough clearance to remove to the bolt holding it to the tunnel.
And you will need the tool to remove the filter from the lines with, inexpensive at most auto parts stores. The most fun is the gas running up your armpits while changiing that MF. Good luck and make sure the exhaust is cold when doing this.

When I replaced mine, I just pinched the plastic clips that hold the filter to the line and it came right out. They recommend that you put a thin coat of motor oil on the seals so they dont get damaged during the reinstall. I'd also go with a factory fuel filter. Have read on the forum of people having problems with aftermarket filters.

If you want to save yourself a trip to the dealer, you can get a Hastings fuel filter via the AMSOIL Online Store.

Part number for a 1998 C5 is GF341.
