I run 3.90's and a PT4000. 70mph is 2500rpms. It is fun to drive and I drive it every day, but I would guess not for everyone.
I would not do it if:
I lived in hilly country, because the converter would be stalling to high too often.
If I regularly took long highway trips. Mine are usually not over 60 miles.

I'm about to buy a 3.90 gear for my A4. I'm going to stick with the stock T/C. How is your Traction on stock tires?

There is none under 50mph.

Please don't stay with the stock converter. You will want to change very soon. 3.90's with at least a 3000 will feel like stock.

thanks for the quick reply i actually live down south in south alabama & its has no rolling hills & this car is a weekend car the reason i ask about the gear is i am getting rdy to install a cam & the cam is a reverse split cam thats gonna require more gear to get the full benifit of the camshaft its the Thunder Racing Custom "Reverse Split" Camshaft - 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA 2200-6800 RPM Power Band. Excellent mid-range & high RPM power. Automatic cars require computer tuning and it is recommend for optimum results on manual transmission cars . Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended

I have 3.90 gears in my A4 and I love them. I turn about 2500-2600 at 70 mph. It's a trade off between street and track. Sometimes I wish the rpms were a little lower, but when I hit the dragstrip it's all worth it. 3200 stall should be good. Let me know if you decide to sell it, I may know someone that wants it.

3.90s and the SS3600 would be a sweet combo.
