Hello while installing my new headers this weekend I think I may have cross-threaded a hole in the head.
I started the bolt in by hand and it went in a couple of turns, then while using a ratchet the bolt started to get tighter. I tried a different bolt and get the same results. What is the best way to fix this problem? Any help would be appreciated.
My bet is you did not strip it. I thought the same thing but it looks like GM used some lock tight that needs to be cleaned out. I used a cleaning tap by hand to clean out each hole before installing the new headers. Worked fine
Thanks for all the replies. I went out and bought a tap this morning and gave it a try. It appears the threads were okay, must have been the thread lock. Bolt went right in with no problems.
Should be back on the road shortly.
Thanks again, as always the forum members have come to the rescue!
I think the head is messed up.... now you have a valid reason for buying some AFR 205's and you might as well do a cam while your at it...labor saving expense...

lol...I used locktite instead of anti-seize on one header. Looks like first time the headers come off I'll be needing heads/cam. Oh crap.
At least that's what my lady will hear. "no, they can't get those LS1 heads anywhere"
