Specs are 98 coupe with 40,000 miles. Automatic. Basic mods (intake, Borla catback/x-pipe, other similar stuff that gives me a fairly good SOTP difference).
I picked up a trango kit with the hopes it would help with the delay inherant to the auto trans and to tighten up its performance in general. But in talking with some of the local car dudes (not Corvette, but just general folks) they are telling me that while the kit will help the tranny, it will also stress out certain parts in the drive train and in the long run I might find that to be a bigger issue. So I thought I'd ask for opinions before I installed it. What does everyone think?
B.S. 450 rwhp stock tranny with trans-go kit only for 4 years before i go with FLP level 5. Hope that help. In NY you should look up Dr. Nick Tranny to install your kit. I installed it in my garage a few hours job.
Check the Yank Converters web site under "FAQ" Yank does not recommend using shift kits. Yank says they create unwanted stress to your tranny and drive train.
Take your car to the VetteDoctors he can reprogram your cars computer for firmer shifts, different shift points and down shift points without using a shift kit.
There are numerous members of this forum who are running TransGo kits, most w/ torque converters and gears. All swear by them for improved performance, and not once have I heard of a problem as the result of the kit. The TransGo kit is highly recommend by many on this forum.
