Default Shortened shifter

Does anyone have that write-up about shortening the shifter about an inch?

How dangerous is it to do without the die? Do you like the new feel of your ****?

save yourself some time and buy a hurst, you won't believe the difference. I cut my shifter but it's still no comparison to the hurst, and only $200

There is not much to be gained by cutting the stock shifter. If you are looking for shorter throws and a more positve engagement... go with something aftermarket (Hurst, B&M, etc)

I drove one with cut down shifter, then with a Hurst. My vote is for the Hurst. No comparison!!

Hey canadianguy, Call Steve at Streamline Performance in Oakville. He should have some Hursts in stock. Good luck.

I bought the Hurst, installed it and hated it. Pulled it out a week later and sold it. I have been looking for another shifter, and with the positive reports on the C6 shifter which I have tried at the car show, I decided to get one of those instead. In the meantime, I did buy a stock shifter to cut down so I could keep my original.

I got a B&M, shortened (just hacksawed--LOTS of threads) it nearly an inch and dropped a 2.25" black cue ball completely down as low as it would go (just over 2").

With such large threads, you can cut without a die on the shaft--if the threads are long enough to begin with. If in doubt, just put on a nut the correct size--much cheaper than a die if all you are doing is just cleaning up the threads from a cut.
