Sorry to ask this, I am sure it is asked all the time but haven't found any of the posts.
I have a daily driver that may see the auto-x 1 or 2 times a year and same for 1/4 mile. Would anyone recommend putting in a DOT 4 or 5 for everyday use or just when going to the track?
I use Wagner DOT 5.1 fluid in my Corvette and Taurus SHO. DOT 5.1 is compatible with DOT 3 and 4, but with a higher wet boiling point. Never had a problem with it.
ATE Super Blue is very good fluid, but if your Vette is under warranty, I suggest using ATE Type 200 which is the same stuff as Super Blue but is gold in color. ATE Super Blue is not classified as DOT 4 because it is blue and for no other reason. If you have a problem with your brake system, the dealer may attempt to deny the repair under warranty because you are not using DOT 4 brake fluid. Avoid the potential problem and use the gold stuff. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TO ME!

Thank you for your input.
Since you are only going auto-xing and 1/4 miling a few times a year, the ability to avoid water absorption over time may be a useful attribute for your brake fluid since you may not want to change it too often. Castrol LMA is good for that reason, with very respectible boiling points.

DOT5.1 is also a synthtic I do belive. 5.1 works well at first but fades very very fast and needs to be blead more frequently then DOT4. Better to use D0T4 in the PBR corvette brakes. i do not know what ford uses int eh Taurus but FORD HD truck brake fluid is a very very good brake fluid. I use it in my Silverado
as Mighty Mouse has in his links the PBR caliper needs a glycerian based brake fluid to lubracate and work properly.
Motul 600, Wilwood 600 are excellent brake fluids. I use Castrol SRF and relie on it as my life depended on it, and it does.
