Power Seat Question
On my 1989, I was able to swap the drivers side seat mechanism with the passenger side seat mechanism. I did this because there was some wobble (front to back) on the drivers seat and I am not as concerned with the passenger (I am usually by myself). These parts on the 1989 were identical regardless of side. Now with my 1998, I am wondering if the seat mechanisms are the same on each side of my sport seats? I guess I could take the seats out to see, but figured that it would be easier to just ask.

Hey Nick,
I see you didn't get many responses to this question. so, I will give you my limited knowledge in regard to a problem I just fixed. I have a '99 c5. The track under the drivers seat broke on the left side (near the door). The seat was wabbling back and forth. I actually put a brick covered with a small towel under it until I completed the repair. I took the track mechanism of the seat and expected to have it welded for a few bucks as it looked like aluminum. It is actuall made out of white metal that is not able to be welded. When I ordered the new track(over $500.00) there was a right seat side available, but had to wait for the drivers side. They were different numbers, so I assume they are different. I hope this is helpful. I hated paying $500.00 for the entire unit withall the motors, because GM saw fit to use the cheapest metal availabe for a seat mechanism that is under constant strain! Rather than swap seat hardware - fix the problem. There is a tech tip posted by 'KenRobb' under tech tips that I used to fix my rocking seat problem on my '97. Hopefully this will fix it for good - I'd recommend doing both seats as the passenger seat will go in a matter of time....

Thanks for the info. They must be different parts then. I think I should be able to fix mine with the tech tip.
