Default OBD/Readiness Driving Procedure

I had the battery out of the car all winter, went to state inspection on Wednesday and failed. Catalytic Converter, Secondary Air Injection, Evaporator System failed the readiness test. I drove the car about 40 miles and they still show “not ready”. Anyone know what the OBD/Readiness Driving Procedure is?

yes, it is a PITA!! the PCM needs to see 40 complete driving cycles without a single check engine light. A driving cycle = engine on, ECT warmed up >176F, VSS sees some MPH (drive the car), park, engine off, ECT cools below 176F. Do this 40x. This is the ONLY procedure I have had luck with getting all the Readiness tests to pass after the battery or PCM has been Reset.

Dont confuse this with the Idle relearn procedure someone is sure to recant here for you. The simple Idle Relearn WILL NOT satiate the readiness test requirements.

Now go get driving!!!
