MAJOR SMOKE at 76k??? HELP!!!
I went to look at an 2000 coupe today. Clean car, pacesetter headers , no cats, o2 simulators?, and some sort of SLP exhaust system. I think it was just SLP tips, got the car on the lift.. I had a buddy of mine drive it while following and noticed a sh*t load of blue/grey smoke at high RPM. From looking at the exhaust set-up: NO RESTRICTION! Have any of you seen anything like this?

The Blue color is just gods way of saying get the hell out of there....Blue smoke is BAD!!
Just figure out new crate engine + Installation Subtract from Selling price you would pay, This should give you a good ball park value given the "car" is ok.
Another choice if the car is the right price is buying a take out motor like a few that are for sale in the parts section. Since it is smoking at 76k though I would go over the rest of the car with a fine tooth comb to make sure the rest wasnt abused as well.
Do a compression test if you are interested and find out for sure what the problem may be,76k is nothing for an ls1 it may be a bad pcv system ive heard of it before or it could be serious.
There is a documented issue with the #2 piston rings in LS1's but I cannot remember the date range, thought it ran up to 2001, but cannot remember when it started. Only looses oil at higher rmp since it is the #2 ring on the pistons. I am sure some one can link the document about this or at least name the dates of vehicles affected. GM has a fix "kit" to solve the problem, at least they did when it first started occuring.

Thanks!
Tomorrow, going back to do a compression test. This brain-dead idiot has diven this car everyday day for 2 years and never changed the plugs. MORON!!! I guess the exhaust was more important. Anyway, Thanks for everyone's 2 cents. I appreciate it.
