Down Shifting Problem

My 98 corvette m6 just started to do it, when i down shift from 3rd to 2nd it pops out of gear and slightly grinds somtimes but not all the time. Car has 50,000 miles on it. Wondering if its the Caggs sytem doing it since i havnt bypassed it yet or if there is a adjusment. Or am i gonna have to pull the tranny out.

Sounds like it could be synchros . At least that what it was in my B/W SuperT-10.

I dont think its syncros, it doesn't feel like its going all the way in gear. it doesnt grind when i shift it into that gear. It all happened after i rodded on the car and slammed it into 2nd and after that it only does it when i down shift from 3rd to 2nd .. any ideas?

I am searching for the info to rebuild mine now.
Leaftye tells me the early trans has aluminum shift forks, so powering into gear could do it.

Bent shift fork would be for 3rd and 4th gear, so i am gonna try the shifter adjustment first.

Adjusted the shifter and it fixed it! seems it just moved a hair just enough to not let the tranny fully go in gear.

SO glad you got it fixed.

You have 3 shift forks in your trans,
1st & 2nd pn 12523210
3rd & 4th pn 12523207
5th & 6th is called a lever, pn 12523204

I only wish my fix was as easy as yours.

Always take the easy fix first.
