I had Flowmasters on my LT1 and it popped badly on decel, had to remove them. Now looking at replacing the stock cat back on my LS1 and in reading the posts, I see that many talk of popping on decel. To me this is really annoying. Should I stick with the stock system or are there systems which sound better than stock and don't pop?

I have a GHL system and it also "pops" on decel. As I understand, you can reprogram the decel fuel trims to eliminate the popping --- just need to be able to do that or find a tuner who can.
Mine barely pops, see sig for mods. I suspect exhaust system leaks might contribute to the problem, providing air to combust the rich mixture. I kinda like it when it does the occasional pop. My LS Edit, done by others, may have helped in my case???????
I've got the Z06 Ti's and they pop somewhat on deceleration. As stated above I've heard and X-pipe will remedy the problem. Hopefully, my Dynatech header system will alleviate the problem when they get here!!

Mine does a little when the car is still cold when shifting but that's about all that I've noticed. Maybe a tiny bit on decel but I don't even notice. When I open up the exhaust though, it really pops, love it!
The popping is always there, ON the stock and Zo6 exhsauts the sounds are muffled very well and in audible, but they are there. When you go to an aftermarket exhaust with only resonators, then they become more noticible. The popping sound is part of the scavengin effect of the exhaust system. X-pipes will mellow the sound out a bit, but not totaly
Are you guys running the maunal transmission or does the popping happen with the A4 on deceleration too?
If you try and down shift an a4 it will "pop" also. I have a full exhaust on my a4 and it is not as bad as when I only had cat back. You probably really shouldn't shift an auto anyway.
