I went on my first road trip from bay area, cali to mesa arizona (1500 miles) and during the whole trip my car with the heater off would cruize at 230 degrees, ac on it would go up to 240, with the heater on full blast it temp would fluctuate between 195 and 214.
when I would downshift and excellarate the temp needle would slowly rise, but when I would pull into the gas station it would drop back down to normal.
I was wondering if those black plastic peices undernieth the front bumper are to make air hit the radiator?? those peices are not on my car for some reason.
if someone knows maybe what's goin on please give me some feedback as to what you would do or what it might be that is causing this.
as for the trip I made it there and back averaging between 28 and 30.2 miles per gallon.
#1 Put the front spoiler back on. It is there to keep air to the radiator.
#2 Make sure the radiator is clean. Lot's of cars have junk in the fins/between the coolant radiator and the A/C heat exchanger. Easily causes high temps.
BTW: My 11.4:1 CR heads/cam package runs about 175-180 on the road. NO, that's not too cold!
