Default Increasing shock travel question...

I am ordering Bilstein Sport shocks for my slammed baby. She sits at (font: 25 1/4" rear 26 1/4")... I ve read previous threads which I cant find now on replacing or doing somthing to the shock mount to increase shock travel even more... I know the Bilsteins are 1" shorter than my Z51 shocks giving my more travel but im hoping to gain more travel than just what the bilsteins will provide for me with the shock mounts...

thanks guys

Wayne

I've heard that you can get Bilstein Sports with a shortened shock body to help with slammed cars...

Thats what i heard to... I think vettethreat had his bilsteins shortened so it was 2" shorter than stock...

But I thought i read something about flipping the shock mount or something in the rear to gain more shock travel.... Hopefully someone will chime in

You can't flip the upper rear shock mount. The mount is dished down in the center. If flipped the dished part will not fit through the hole in the frame leaving about a 1/2" gap between the mount and frame where the bolts goes through. Plus if flipped the shock shaft cover (plastic part) will hit the mount.

You can however replace the factory dished upper mount with a flat plate. This will raise the shock around 3/4" which with the angle of the shock should change the wheel travel twice that.

Thats right broham. My advice is to call Craig at WCC. He did this on mine and my rear sits where your front is. I think it only added $30 per shock to. This is the best and only way to get the travel back while being cost effective. The sports are way to long for a big drop.
