Default Q's About Cam

I have a 98 auto vert with the following mods: 342's/vararam/underdrive pulley's/magnaflow x-pipe/ with 107K on motor. What would be a good cam spec that I could run with stock heads and motor to get a little choppy sound and gain some hp's. Someone said a 224/244-588/588--114 would be a good cam. NEED HELP.(headers will be installed about a month after cam). JOHN

If I were you I would go with a 224/228 580s cam with 114 or 112.

The lower the lsa number, the choppier the idle. You can go mild lift and duration with a 110 lsa and have a wicked idle and still have good low/midrange response.

check out futral motorsports. their F4 cam specs are 226/226 .58x 114. they have a good price on the full kit. 750 bucks for cam, titanium retainers, hardened pushrods, springs. i talked to them this week and they were very helpful in helping to pick out a cam. this cam should be good for 45rwhp although i am not sure what the results will be if you are running stock manifolds. you may want to upgrade to long tube headers
