Nope, don't need any. I'm very good at doing burnouts without a line lock. Like I said earlier, I've only stalled my Vette once and I've been to the track dozens and dozens and dozens of times. The one time I did was embarassing enough to make me by one and make sure it doesn't happen again.

I am really surprised they have been able to stay in business with all the competition they have now. Has not effected their prices though that's for sure.
You notice most of them state low restriction. They should have to state the micron size it will filter. We shouldn't have to spend half a day investigating this.

At least they don't say 'ram air'.

By the way, have you noticed what DTE and Lngenfelter put on their engines. Do you suppose it's because they offer a warranty.

Just to shut up the idiot, I'm do for an oil change, I have 6k on M1 synth. driven with the VARARAM "race" filter. I will have the oil analyzed and post the results. My prediction will be no difference than had I driven with a "stock" filter. I don't drive in the dessert or sand storms.

It's funny how Korreck is all the sudden a big drag racer........ it all started when he got called out in the last Blackwing vs. VARARAM debate that he is a no drag race, no experiance ignorant bag of wind with zero proof to back up his mouth. Otherwise known as a TOOL.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/sho...d.php?t=1018988

More proof of the idiot. Hey Korreck, why does Lingenfelter use intercoolers?????? Come on Korreck, what's your answer??????? Still waiting Korreck...........

Does Callaway offer a warranty with their packages too?

Their description of their Honker intake is

"Unique design eliminates restrictive over-the-radiator gooseneck and relocates mass air flow sensor (MAFS).
Rigid base ingests cooler, denser inlet air from outside of engine compartment.
Callaway proprietary low-restriction filter element is washable and reusable for extended, reliable service.
Works with all OEM engine management sensors.

Includes ultra-high flow air inlet duct, low restriction, washable and reusable air filter element, sturdy filter element housing, premium quality hardware and complete installation instructions."

Well, I've been using the K&N in my Vararam and I saw a nice improvement over the zip/tie. Trust me , the K&N didn't hurt the vararam.

The parade of C5 owners running low 12s and into the 11s with the Vararam continues. Yet another guy Qksilver running in the 11s with the Vararam.

I wonder why??

I think I will listen to these guys and take note of their real world experiences and recommendations over Korreck's "speculation".

They claim that the Vararam works and they race all the time. They post terrific ETs and trap speeds. They have 12 second avatars, 11 second avatars and a long list of credentials. They say that the Vararam works

Korreck, on the other hand, has never in his life driven a C5 down a dragstrip with or without a Vararam, Blackwing, nor any other intake. As such he has posted no time slips, nor related any real world experiences. Because he has neither..... He says that it doesn't.

Now whom to believe???? Decisions, decisions.

Well now I am looking forward to EB2003s times and 90 droptop's oil test. These CAI threads have been good for generating practical test data if nothing else.

Just installed my new Vararam tonight. The SOTP dyno says its makin more power. We'll see what the numbers are tomorrow when I hit the strip. It takes some work to install but not to bad, took just over 2 hours start to finish. I don't really like the fit and finish, especially the aluminum rivets visible from the front but I'll deal with it, maybe some screens are in my future. I expected a little more "sucking" sound but it really isn't any louder than the stocker IMO. I would do it again, $325 is nothin when the extra .2 gives you braggin rights.

Just be sure to drive the car 100 miles so the computer learns how to deal with the extra cold air. It has to add fuel to the extra air to make more power.

I have about 400 miles on mine and should be around 500 before I finally take it to the drag strip.

I've had my Vararam B2 for about 200 miles. The Vararam install was easy. Everything fits as it should. I do not care what anyone believes but the vette pulls better with the Vararam versus the Blackwing I removed. I really do feel a SOTP difference and thats a fact.

As I said earlier, you will know the results, Shurite44. In a lot of ways I am glad that I am on that idiot's ignore list. When the discussion thread is started next week he shouldn't even know about it. Perhaps we can have a civil discussion about the results, whatever they may be, without the resident idiot and his comments.

Furthermore, if the initial results are promising/favorable, Korreck will never know and will lose out on any possible advantages seen with the Vararam. A fitting predicament for him IMO.

Part of the reason for making the data available to the board is to give people a chance to scrutinize it. I am in the medical field and I am published. I know how to collect data. And I know how to present it for peer review. I know how to submit it so that it stands up to vigorous scrutiny and this evaluation will be as complete as is practical.

If there is anything wrong with the data or the methods of obtaining the data, I INVITE scrutiny and or criticism.

I do realize that certain variables, forseen and unforseen can possibly skew the results one way or the other. Weather, traction, wind speed, length of burnout, how straight a line I drive, coolant temperature, oil temperature, and how long the car has sat before the run, gasoline quality and quantity, my own skills.... all could, in theory, affect the outcome. All can be taken into account during the evaluation of the results should you wish. Many will speculate as to how much of an influence each of these and more has on the result. That is fine too.

This "peer review" process should invite constructive comments from respected members here.

I have documented the weather and the time of my runs with the Blackwing. I know what the humidity, temperature, Barometric pressure and track elevation were. I know every detail of my time slips and how to compare them. I will be making my runs at the same track. I will be running the same car. I will be driving. I will be making periodic runs and reporting the results over the season.

All results will be reported in the form of actual time slips.

You and the board will have a chance to compare my time slips with the previous Blackwing and the present Vararam LINE BY LINE.

I run BFG DRs and I was running 22lbs of air in both rears the day of the 12.53 and 12.56. They were aired down at the track after driving there. I was running 34lbs in the fronts hot. I will be running the same AND USING THE SAME AIR GAUGE to measure this. There have been approximately 3000 miles put on the car since those last runs.

I was running 94 octane Sunoco, 1/4 tank on the same tune which is in the car now. The gasoline quantity and arguably even the octane, may be difficult to duplicate beyond a shadow of a doubt but I shall make every attempt.

There has been nothing added to or removed from the car save for the Blackwing (and I have started using Zaino vs NXT) The car has not been retuned or put on a dyno since those runs. The tires and wheels are the same.

The interior of the car was empty except for myself and the GM bra which I drove to the track with and removed and threw into the back after I got there. I have not gained nor lost more than two pounds since that run. This according to my bathroom scale. I will be wearing my same "lucky" jeans, polo shirt and Nikes. And using my same helmet.

I will make runs in both lanes. The right lane seems to be faster than the left at my local track. And will make as many runs as I can on the 1/4 tank of gas before reaching "Reserve Fuel". I will be using my normal drag racing routine, competitive mode, short to moderate burnout about 10 seconds of burnout after I see the first smoke in my rearview mirror, shallow staged, braking and raising the RPMs as high as I can before it can get through the brakes, and full throttle after the 3rd yellow.

If I have omitted anything I invite those of you who are interested to recommend additions or deletions.

As for Korreck. I can only speak for myself, but I have no affiliation with Vararam, nor do I sell the VR 1B, VR -B2 or any other of their products. I have never been approached by Vararam to do so. I have no financial interest in Vararam.

I have no vested interest in the outcome of the results, other than the sweat equity. I actually still have my Blackwing after a prospective buyer backed out of the deal and I am not averse to putting it back on.
I can recoup much of the cost of the Vararam and chalk up the difference to the "expense" of being inquisitive and having a burning need to find out for myself whether or not it makes a difference vs the Blackwing.

I am merely looking for the best performance that I can get from my car no matter the product.

Wrong again Korreck, being wrong seems to be the only thing you're good at though. For a TOOL like you to question my integrity is laughable. Again Korreck, I'll bring facts to the table. You on the other hand, continue to run your mouth like a chump spouting crap out your azz.

Now to your accusation. I have zero affiliation with VARARAM....zero. For you to imply the opposite, shows once again just how ignorant you are. It's really very simple, (I say simple so even you can understand Korreck) VARARAM has been one of the best bangs for the buck I have found for the c5 for around $300.00. Lets see, ported t-body, air bridge, roller rockers, cat back, h-pipe, Blackwing, dyno tune, all together they will add power. But not one of these items have equaled or come close to the gains from just switching to VARARAM.

Now here is a question for you Korreck. (**notice** EB and I always answer your questions, as dumb as they are, we answer) How much testing have you done on your c5 with different mods besides your Blackwing and tune?????? Well, since we are on the subject, let's hear about those blistering e.t.'s. Keep it real Korreck, your new "drag race" buds have been P.M. me, laughing at you and spilling the beans about you. Have a nice day TOOLboy.

Will someone please tell that stupid a$$hole to quit making an even bigger fool of himself.

Poor bastard. I almost feel bad for him. It must be hell trying to go through life being that stupid. He is a joke and already the laughingstock of this board, what with his can't do a burnout without a line lock and other ill informed statements. Does this guy have any credibility here at all????

Can't do a burnout without a line lock.

Claims to be a former NHRA champion yet cannot even read a time slip and tell, from a time slip, whether a participant has red lighted/fouled or not.

Tells us that no 13 second car can cut better than a 1.9 60ft time....even with drag radials.

Has no understanding, no notion, not even an inkling, of how Torque Management works yet tries to "advise" us on it.

Has no idea how to launch a C5 Vette, yet offers even more "advice". It matters not that he has never in his life done it before. Only read about it. And he is actually a big enough fool to think that his opinions carry weight here.

Yet he is steadily offering "advice". And actually believes that anyone here is taking it seriously. Even tells Cajundude, a guy running in the low 12s,... nearly at will, ..... to "Try this" as if to offer him advice.

Thats like me trying to offer swing tips to Tiger Woods, or batting tips to Barry Bonds or Sammy Sosa. Thats like me trying to tell Redgar or Brent how to drive. What an utter dolt. Were it not pathetic, it would be laughable.

He actually doesn't realize that no one cares if he "hears" or not. He is literally too dense to understand that. And more importantly no one cares or places any stock whatsoever in his statements. He is a literal joke. The absence of his asinine responses, stupid replies, "contributions" and "advice" is more of a benefit to the entire board than he realizes.

He is living proof that Darwin was wrong. For if he were right no living thing could last as long as Korreck has considering how stupid Korreck is. Laws of selection would have made him extinct long before this board came into existence and we were unfortunate enough to endure his presence.

Each time he replies with one of his "I can't hear you" replies is an instance where:

1. We recognize him for the utter dullard that he is.

2. We don't have to suffer through his erroneous, sophomoric "advice"
which has no basis in fact, and his "opinions".

If I can keep him tied up and limited to his "I can't hear you" type posts then so much the better. It will save us all from having to endure the "opinions" and "advice" of that imbecile and hopefully prevent anyone
from making the mistake of following either.
