Okay, I just finished replacing my original plugs and wires with NKG TR55 plugs and MSD wire. The engine sounds fine, but there is a high pitched squeal that sounds like it's coming from the alternator. It doesn't look like anything is rubbing or out of place, so does anyone know what it might be? I did remove the wire that is coming out of the back of the alternator, but it's back on tight if that makes any difference.
Also, what should I look for with my old plugs? Most of them look about the same, but one is almost black. I'll post some pics of the old plugs so you can see what I mean.
The good new, it only took 3 beers and one bloody knuckle to get the job done.
Take a look at this link. It will give you an indication of what normal is. As for the sqeal, why did you remove the alternator wire? Did you move it and the belts and maybe get them out of line? You didn't drop and anti seize compond on the belt, did you?
Like your sig. I lived in Düsseldorf for 18 months. Man, I wish I had my C5 when I was over there. Good Luck. Bitte. - C.

just to give me a little more room getting #1 and #3 out didn't think it would cause any problems.
I didn't mess with any of the belts and there is no way the anti seize got on them. I put the anti seize on the plugs about 5 feet away from the car. It' possible that I bumped the altinator while I was taking them out, so I'll have to check that carefully tomorrow. It's already dark here and I don't have lights in my garage.
Based on that website, my plugs look okay. The electrodes are fine (a little thin but overall, they are good) the difference in color was on the threads on the #2 plug. It's almost black while the others are look clean. I'm still working on getting a picture hosted.
okay, took the car out for a drive and the sound from the alternator went away, just a little bit of a smell left from the liquid wrench i used to get the #5 plug out with.
There is a slight ticking sound coming from the intake manifold, so I've got to figure that one out too.
here's what the plugs look like. The front of the car would be to the left of the picture
