Column Lock but different
Hey gang,
A little help please. Fired up the 04 today with a weak battery. Digital display shows Service Column Lock but the wheel is unlocked. Went into diagnostics and cleared code but still have display saying "service column lock". Have charged the battery and colum is still unlocking with no problem. How do I clear the message on the display?

You did not say if you have an automatic. If so, the wheel does not lock. You may have to pull the fuse in the BCM to reset.

I had the exact same problem happen to me yesterday. I attempted to start my MN6 with a low battery which caused the "Service Column Lock" message to appear.
I've since charged my battery and I'm still getting the error message.
I've also noted that my column appears not to be locking at all anymore.
I used to have the CLB installed but the dealer removed it and performed the recall without asking when I took it in to get the radio replaced.
Of course, I know the recall doesn't prevent column lock.
Basically, the bottom line is that I'd like this message to go away perhaps the motor that locks the column is no longer working properly which is why I'm still getting the message.
I'm going to purchase a new CLB and see what happens...
