There's a low profile Mercedes-Benz scissors jack that works very well and takes little space. There's a Forum member in Germany that has been helping people out with these.
Where can i get one of thoes!? That is awesome, how stable is it though? My car is slammed and i have no way of getting it up on the side of the road but that might work.
It will definitely work I have one and they are great. Go to your local Mercedes Benz dealer and they can get you one. They put them in their sports cars.
Unless you're in a hurry, don't waste the money at a Mercedes dealer. Order one from the member in Germany for $50 (that was the price when I got mine). Do a search to find the thread with this item. I believe his name is Frederik.
Looks like this scissors jack would work. It's one of the few I've found that is low enough ( 4 5/16" ) to fit under a C5 that had a flat tire. Since it's for emegencies only, does it have to have a "puck"?
If anyone has names of products they're using with success, maybe you cn post them. It would sure help those of us that are putting a tire repair kit together!
Good morning. It is a 1.5 ton jack I found at my local Northern Tools store for $15. It came with a small bracket riveted on the top. I ground the rivet off to remove the bracket and attached an o-ring and washers (from Home Depot for about $2) to create the jacking puck. Works great, and is quite stable. I looked at the small jack from the member in Germany. I almost got it, but it sure looks unstable.
Rick, is this the jack? It's a 1-ton, but that's all I could find in the Northern catalog. It does have a perfect lifting range, though! If it's not a bother, did you use 1 1/2 " fender washers? Thanks!!!

The second one you found looks exactly like the one I got at Northern Tools (it was a year or so ago. I guess they change styles occasionally). It even has the wierd bracket on the top. The bracket is just attached with one rivet, so it comes off easily. The price looks good as well! The eye bolt I used is 1" in diameter. The fender washers are 1 3/4". Your 1 1/2" would work just fine. http://www.autosupplyusa.com/lar15tonscis.html

I have the German jack and it does tend to try to rotate as you crank it until it get some load on it. The nylon head does not fit into a slot as intended on the Mercedes, and does not create enough friction to keep it from rotating.
I got an extra aluminum jacking puck and milled a slot in it to fit the nylon head of the jack, and now it works fine for emergencies. The jacking puck installs in the frame slot as normal so it cannot slide, and the head of the jack fits perfectly into the slot in the puck.

RCK, when you get a chance could you post a pic of your jack so we can get an idea of what you did with the eye-bolt? Many thanks for all your help!
