A/C light stays on

I own a 2004 convertible. The climate control when in automatic mode the A/C light will not go out. When the A/C button is pushed it blinks then remains on. In manual mode the A/C can be turned on and off. Is the way it should operate?

It's normal. Read the manual it explains it there.

It is connected to defrosting the windshield. If you change the mode to vents and or floor it should go off.
