Default Engine Knock

What exactly does knock sound like? The car seems to drive fine, but there is a banging noise. It sounds like it could be a loose exhaust pipe or header, etc., but I'm not sure. I notice it mostly in park. With hood up, it sounds very low in the engine compartment. Any suggestions? BTW, Just had a Tunnel Plate installed. Thanks.

If you knock bad enough to hear it, it sounds like, as best I can describe, like wrapping a metal wrench in a towel and hitting another heavy piece of metal. Kind of like a very short/intense thunk.

Ping on the other hand sounds a little different, much higher pitch. I had horrible pinging in my '01 on a dyno once and it sounded like they were making popcorn under the hood... ick.

If you're hearing a less muffled banging, I would suggest is is probably something loose and not engine knock, especially given your recent install. The exhaust has to be dropped for that install, and maybe they missed a hanger or something? or didn't tighten something up?

Also just saw you heard it mainly in 'Park', doubt highly you'd get any knock at idle.
