door sill trim

I am painting my coupe and was wondering what you guys have done about this black trim piece. It appears to be molded in, is that correct? I have not taken a real close look at it to see if it can be removed. I hate to just mask things off that can be removed. What do you think?

I thought it just stuck on with adhesive.

It's a vinyl piece. They come off easy. Use a hair dryer to slightly heat it if you need to. I found that this just seems to leave more adhesive behind for you to clean. Use somthing like 3M adhesive remover to get the glue off.

Does this piece normally come off in good shape so that it can be used again? Or should I plan on replacing it?

What are some other options for replacing it?

my 98 did not come with them (I believe they started putting them on 99 and later cars), I installed them myself.
checkout your local chevy dealer, they are not very expensive.
