Default Can I drill here?

I know a lot of people don't want to drill, but I decided it's the best way to secure my amp. Can anyone tell me if it is safe to drill the amp down here, and not hit any gas tanks?:

HOLD ON THERE BUD!!!!! Directly below that general area are:

1 Fuel tank cross over tube
2 Some wiring harnesses

If you must drill, it is possible to look into the area below the floor pan and see where the drill bit will come through. If I had to mount an amp on the deck in that area, I would expxy four 1/2" thick fiberglass or plastic pads about the size of a quarter on the floor pan that have metal fasteners drilled and secured into them. You would only need to cut 4 small holes into the carpet for the screws to go through. Then you could screw the amp to the blocks and not alter the origional configuration of the car and they can be removed if needed later down the road if necessary.

If your not careful, drilling in that area is risky There have been more than a few people who have drilled into the crossover hose and had a fuel leak.

I took a look in my photo archives and found these pictures. The fuel tank cross over hose is located in the header between the seats and the rear compartment. There are fuel tank service lines just aft of the header.

Here is a picture of the C6 ZO6 frame! It shows the fuel tank crossover tube. It is corragated metal. Yours is rubber.

Here is another picture of a frame from a 97-98 C5!

This better represents where the wires and cables are.

Whew, I'm glad I didn't drill. Definitely not going to do that. I'll take the epoxy fiberglass|mdf board method!

Thanks guys, I'm glad I asked!

Yes! It an oil to oil cooler, The trans has a pump and an oil cooler. The cooled oil from the trans cooler flows into the rear and cools the oil in there. Slick!!
