I have most of the fuel filter removed on my "99 with automatic. How do you remove the fuel feed pipe from the outlet side of the fuel filter? This is the single larger line. I have the other two off. As soon as I find out how to get the last line off, I'll be able to reassemble . Thanks for any help.
you need a fuel line tool. Just run to the local parts store and they should have them. They are not very expensive and a good tool to have around in the future. The ones i bought came in a package with various sizes, then just find the one you need and jam it up in there. Waa laa, it'll come right off.
i started to change mine once and got the filter half off as well. i kept jamming screwdrivers in there trying to get it loose and then finally called a friend of mine who told me what i needed. The bad news was the vette is my only car and i didnt want to get it down off the jack stands, so i had to walk to the parts store, which is about 1.5mile from the house and then it rained on me during the walk home Oh well, i needed the exercise anyways and the bath was just a bonus
. Got two types of 3/8" tools. One is plastic and looks like a modified donut. The other is metal and is sicissors type action. How much force is required to ram the tool into the fitting? I tried with the plastic tool and there just wasn't much leverage to force it into the fitting. Of course there sure isn't a lot of room to do this . Did you find an easy way to inset the tool? Thanks

Reason: wrong size tool
You just have to keep trying to push the tool in so the little tabs inside the filter release.. if you break that line it will cost you $600 to replace it as it is one piece from front to rear. (I did that years ago)
I found on some fuel lines, that before you insert the tool,, twist the fuel line to loosen the o-ring seal,, then insert the tool,, makes it easier. Never tried this on the vet though,, but the I used the same tool on the other car and it worked only after twisting. 99 Nassau Blue
