Default CCW Classics with Bilsteins any issues?

I do not post a lot, but I'm on the forum just about everyday. I have to say this is the place to find information on corvettes. I have bought parts from both members and venders and have alway been pleased with their resposiveness. Today I have a question I have not been able to find an answer for. I have some Classic CCW wheels and tires that John at CCW is sending out they are 18x10 and 18x11.5 with 275's on the front and 335's on the back. I also have a set of Bilstein Sport Shocks that I have been waiting to put on. Has anyone had any rubbing issues with this set up? Should I ask CCW to send out a spacer? Thanks for the help.

The rear spring can come into contact with the wheel if your car is lowered more than the stock bolts. You may also have some rubbing on the rear inner fender well. (lowered car). I had both at an AutoX, driving
very aggressive. No problems on the street though. I did not have spacers. I loved my CCW Classics!

Thanks, ALLKAR the pictures of you cars were one of the reasons I went with CCW's. My car is stock height, but I believe that Bilstein's are shorter that stock shocks. Am I correct in this assumption? Chip at CCW did not think it would be an issue.

No issue at all. The Bilstein's dont make your car sit an inch lower they just give you an extra inch of shock travel so you don't bottom them out. I had them on my car. You will love them along with your CCW's.

I JUST came in from the garage from doing some of my suspension upgrades (sway-bars, springs, shocks) and the Bilstein's are the same length, however they are set to be compressed an extra inch from where your stock ones sat. Ie: they extend one inch less, but compress one inch more. This works well with lowered cars but will still work fine with non-lowered cars.

Default CCW Classics with Bilsteins any issues?

Hey Ace,

I'm the current owner of Al's CCW Classic setup on my 03 Z06, fully lowered on stock bolts with a moderate load (groceries) in the trunk resulted in minor wheel house rubbing. The set up is 18x11.5 with PS 335x30x18 rubber. To cure this I've talked to John at CCW and he is going to make me a set of 1/4" spacers for the rears to fix the rub problem. I'm also installing a set of Bilstein Sports this weekend and a lowering kit from West Coast Corvettes which gives me extended bolts for the rear. I will be watching the spring spacing closely in proximity to the base of the wheels (thanks Allkar for teh tip).

I love the tires and wheels, can't wait to get my Z lowered further with the Bilsteins, it should be a tracking fool once I'm finished.

Take care, TJ

I just ordered the same wheels & tires. Cant wait until they come in. My car is lowered so I will keep an eye on rubbing. ALLKAR did you have to shorten your leaf springs since your car is so low. I fear the inner barrel on the wheel might hit the rear leaf spring.

No, I didn't shorten the spring. I remember seeing someone on the forum
trim the end of the spring though. The spring was real close on mine and like I said it only rubbed the time I AutoX it. You'll probably need the spacer.

I have my car as low as possible on stock suspension and my rear leaf spring is gouging my rear tires and I'm on 18x11 CCW's with 305/35/18 Toyo's. I had to switch over to coilovers to solve my rubbing issues.

Spacers helped on the street but not at the track. Keep an eye on them...
