Loud alternator noises

My 02 vert has a really loud alternator. It has a loud "whinning/whistle" noise to it.

I have a 2000 z28 with ls1 and it sounds nothing like it.

Do I need a new alternator?

Yes, I can hear it. Why don't you have someone that knows what they're doing check it out? Just a thought.

You're welcome. It's just something that can't be diagnosed on line. It may be fine, probably isn't but I wouldn't buy another without having it checked by a mechaniic.
