Hi I have a 97 C5, and it got a really irritating squeak/ whistle from the big serpentine belt, so i ordered one from the only UK 'official' corvette dealer, which fixed the problem for 2 days, and has now come back with a vengeance!!
I do have access to other parts companies who can supply me with Gates belts, but need a part number (because i'm in the UK they don't have the details on the Vette)- can anyone help? or suggest any other reason why i have this problem, from what i can see it's a self adjusting belt, and the tensioner seems to be ok.
Any thoughts much appreciated, as I'm attending a big rally on the 15th and doing a couple of laps of Silverstone Race Circuit so don't want the vet sounding shabby!!
Looking from the passenger or driver side of the car. Watch the belt tracking over the pullies, as the car is idling. Especially watch the crankshaft pulley ( lowest and largest pulley in the belt path). Older/higher mileage cars seem to have trouble with the crank pulley coming out of alignment, or seperating.
