Last Wednesday after parking my Vette and walking away, I noticed that I didn't hear the horn tone to indicate that the passive function locked and alarmed the car. Then I tried the manual buttons of the FOB and nothing. So I assumed that FOB battery was dead. I replaced the battery Friday, followed the instructions for resyncing the FOB that I found here on the forum. I held the "lock" & "unlock" buttons at the same time for 3 to 4 second and got the horn tone to indicate all is well. It worked great all day Friday and Saturday morning as well. Then later in the afternoon the FOB did nothing again, manual or passive. I thought maybe it was shorting and ran the battery down quick. So I dug out my second FOB this morning and put another new battery in it. I get nothing. I've switch the new battery between the two FOB's and get nothing at all. I tried the sync method on both units and I'm not getting the horn tone. Does anybody have any ideas on what the problem could be? Or what I can do to get the FOB's working again?
Thanks for any assistance or suggestions.

Can't help, but I'm having a similar problem with my '00. Fob doesn't work, so I hold lock/unlock till the horn beeps, then fob works fine. Next time I try - sometimes within just a few minutes - fob is dead, again, and I have to synch again. Any ideas, anyone? New battery in fob, no indication that car battery needs to be replaced...

My FOB does the exact same thing. Best guess is to replace it because they do not last forever. I was going to, but then I discovered that the key would also open the door and didn't require batteries and didn't cost $130 at the Stealership to replace. I decided to not buy one from Ebay that might be just as dead as mine is, so untill I can part with the cash to get new one, my key will have to do. Good luck.

I just went through the same issue. FOB worked fine one day, next day, nothin. I'd go through the sync procedures, etc. and it would only hold for a few minutes. Turned out to be the FOB, and the only way i found that out was to drop the change for a new one.
When i went to get it, the guy looked it up and said "Is this for a corvette?" I replied, and he says "Yeah, i could tell by the price"
Alright, what I tried yesterday was to go into the DIC programming, and re-trained the FOB. Now it appears to be working perfect. Hopefully it will continue to do so for a while. If any of you need to try this as well, I'd be glad to post the instructions.
Thanks for the input guys.

I did the DIC way too, but neither way worked longer than 10 minutes on my FOB with new batteries.
I had this problem. I had a bad connection between the fob battery and the curcuit board. Look closely at the contact that lays along side the battery. There are two little feet that it sets on. Take the battery out to see them. One of the feet was broken off so when I put the fob back, back on the contact could move away from the circuit board. If it disconnects, even for a second it's the same as removing the battery.
Then you have to do the lock unlock button thing. And then it happens again. Can't say if that's your problem but it's something to look at.
2) Press "Reset" button in order to clear any IPC display warning messages
3) Press and release the "Options" button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank
4) Press and hold the DIC "Reset" button for 3 seconds
5) Press the "Options" button again until "FOB TRAINING" message appears
6) Press "Reset" button until the IPC "FOB training" message appears in order to begin the programming
7) You will now be instructed to press both “LOCK” & “UNLOCK” at the same time on you FOB. Hold until you hear your horn chirp. By the way, I did this with the ignition still on. It’s been working great since.
