The synthetic tranny fluids disipate heat better. That's the biggest advantage, cooler tranny temps. About 15-20 degrees cooler using Mobil 1. No need to spend more than the cost of Mobil 1. It's about $5 a quart.
same with me, had that royal purple oil in it and never really felt a difference, put the amsoil in and it made a significant difference in the feel...
Only 500 miles on my 2004 and the original trans fluid looked bad! After switching to Amsoil noticed a difference. I added a magnetic drain plug and also replaced the rear dif fluid with Amsoil and added another magnetic drain plug. Rear dif fluid looked OK. Now I'm 100% Amsoil and good to go!
Where do you get the magnetic drain plugs?
I'd consider doing that for my oil plug. Sounds like it'd be useful.

I just bought all three (engine, tranny, diff) for an upcoming fluid change. Ecklers was about $5 more than Mid America. ($37 vs. $32, shipping included)
How much fluid does it take to do the tranny and diff, and do I need any special tools?
