I have heard its one of the best mods you can do. It makes the car significanlty stiffer. and also emiminates all the funny sounds from frame distortion.
Newengland green just didi a nice write up on it. Im sure youll see him post all over the place
I've heard numerous reports that they work quite well as far as stiffening up the car, and help keep the temps down inside the cabin and your center console. I ordered mine and it's sitting here waiting to be installed.
Can't say about stiffness reinforcement but shielding the heat from the LT really works, night and day diff.
I got the one sold by LAPD, ceramic coated.
In all honesty!! Does it work and if so...which thickness works the best with the 1 7/8" Kook's LT's??

ABSOLUTELY!!!
The car feels stiffer, with fewer creaks if any: could be the placebo effect, though I don't think so. On the other hand the effect on temperature is OVERT; the cabin, the console and its contents are much cooler since I've installed this. Even the shift **** is cooler. This really is a must have mod if you've got headers and a high output engine, particularly if you live in the south. My car's been very tight all along, so it's hard to tell how much torsional difference is present, but the temperature difference is night and day!!
A more interesting question would be if anyone's dared to drive their car without any tunnel plate......if the difference between no plate and the stock one is small, there's probably not a whole lot to be gained by making it even stiffer than stock (and this would tend to match the reported results: "I think I feel a difference, but I'm not sure..."). I do realize this wouldn't be a trivial test to perform.
The reported results are quite clear that the aftermarket plates can significantly reduce the cabin temps, expecially for cars w/headers.
It would be really cool if someone could take some cabin temp readings before and after the plate so that we could quantify the difference.

Wow! I'm popular even in forums I do not post in.
The Abs of Aluminum does work for me. My car is slammed and consequently my suspension is ... shall we say, "on the firm side"
Before with the stock tunnel plate I could feel the car flexing over uneven pavement and bridge trusses. Now, with the 1/4 inch AOA, that flexing and twisting is gone. Car feels unified and solid. No more skipping and hopping.
So, to answer your question - YES, it worked for me and for many others on this forum. However, your mileage may vary.
