O.K... I bought my 99' 6 months ago with a bad sensor. I replaced the sensor with a new one from the stealer. No more than a day later my guage was pegged! I got a new one from the stealer and no more than two weeks later pegged again! So 5 months and 2K-3K later the gauge is pegged!!! Is it something I am doing wrong?
This sux!

I take it that your oil pressure reading returned to normal each time you replaced your sensor? I have heard that GM did have a few problems with some defective units, but that's been a good while ago.
Last year when mine needed replacing, I bought a PS308 made by Standard Motor Products, from RockAuto.com. It's been fine ever since. One thing to be really careful with though is to torque the new one properly. I don't remember what the torque was right off hand, but it wasn't much. HTH

I'm on my third one as well. Replaced two within three months of each other. I can tell you that I'm pretty proficient at removing and installing an intake manifold, that's for sure.
I work at a Chevrolet Dealer -parts dept- and just had to replace mine the other night on my 98 vette. It is not uncommon to see a vette come in with this problem. The part number has changed before and anytime there is a part number change there is usually a design change. I know they used to have a brass base and now they are aluminum base. I dont know if they changed anything else on the inside to prevent them from failing so quickly.
It is just a pain to replace. While I was in there also replaced the intake gaskets, could see some blow by. Plus, I changed the check valve behind the drivers side cyclinder head. We have seen problems with that valve rusting on the inside due to mositure build up. Causing the valve to rust shut and causing a code in the computer.
If you do have change the sensor yourself, make sure you have a 1 1/8 oil sending unit socket because a box wrench will not fit into the small area you have to work in.
