Car is a 99 C5 with a 408/AFR combo.Ran great and put out 525hp.Just recently is had a slight miss then rapidly got bad.Only code was 101 which is the MA performance which we switched out and didn't help at all.The compression is 220psi on all cylinders.Reading the exhaust temp only cylinder 1+2 are firing (all the time)and the rest are cutting out.
Any idea's or past experience?
I was thinking bad Cam sensor, crank sensor, broken ground?
The car ran perfect before and this all happened from minor miss to major missing in 1 day.-no blown head gaskets and even tried new plugs.
When I did my heads/cam, it ran great for a few days. All of the sudden it started to bog down real bad and I thought I needed a tune.
I took it in to get a tune, but it turned out I melted a few of the plug wires over time. It was not obvious until they were pulled. Two ripped apart, and two others had burn marks.
I switched out the MSD wires to stock wires with the heat shields and it ran great.
Make sure your wires are good and none of them are touching the headers.
It's not the wires, fully inspected. I'm pointing towards the crank sensor since it hardly idle's(backfires) and just is undrivable with no codes. There is no engine noise indicating a mechanical problem.
