Last night, I got back from an 800 mile road trip. I put my '04 C5 CE vert in the garage, shut down, and in addition to the usual clinking as various parts cooled, there was a sizzling, like...fluid dripping on something hot.
I had run with the top down for the afternoon drive up from DC. As I got into NYC, it got cool, but since I still wanted to keep the top down, I ran the heat until I got home in Connecticut.
Last fall, I installed QTP long tube headers in November and then basically put the cover on for the winter, so this was the first long road trip since new headers.
Now, here's the question...when the heat is on, so is the A/C compressor. Could the sizzling have been A/C condensate dripping on the new headers? I wouldn't have heard it driving, obviously. Does the condensate drain sit where there would be no problem with stock headers, but where water would drip on long tubes? Anyone else ever have this?
