Hey guys, I just recieved a set of LG headers the other day. They look great, except for one problem. It looks like the rear tube on the passenger side header was cut and re-welded. Here is a pic:
Did any of you with LG's notice this? I emailed LGM about it, and they said that borla did that on purpose because of the multiple tight bends. It makes sense, but I was just wondering if they are all like this. Thanks!
Here is something to help you get them on. Awesome headers!
I thought for sure this was going to be a link to a picture of a crow bar and a hammer...
Mine were not bad to install.. love the sound. Ditch the cats.
Did not jack the motor up either... dropped it down on the drivers side.. took out the steering shaft and the alternator. A word of advice.. DO NOT spin the steering wheel when the shaft is out. Got mine off somehow and now I have the airbag light on upon startup. Tried to remove the steering wheel.. broke two of the special tools before I finally gave up.
You know, it's really confusing to me that some folks see a 30 HP gain with LG's and others see zero. Tune or no tune, seems like you should see some gains.
I'm on LG's list for a header install. I hope I'm one of the lucky ones.

This makes absolutely no sense at all. How can anyone see 0 hp gain after a LT install. Between the stock tune and then another tune after the exhaust install, I saw a 40 hp increase. BTW, my dynos were at MTI and they do not sell LGs so they have no interest in making the numbers look good either. My times at the track show a tremendous increase as well. Whoever is seeing a zero increase is making it up or smoking crack.
Mine also have the weld. I have to agree with the posts above. All of the popular headers will provide some increase over the stock setup, unless there is something very wrong with the engine to start with, like a bad tune, or the baseline numbers were not right (too high).
I have replaced a set of no-name mid length headers and crudly made exhaust with the LGs/Random Tech pipes and only saw modest increases. All that meant was the no-names although unattractive were a pretty good design (rusty and leaking though).
mine also have the weld. just checked and there is definately a sop diff. There is a noticable lose of TQ down low but I think it is move alittle in the higher rpm. Once i get it tuned, MC should be able to move it around alittle.
