OK, it never fails. I take my car to the Chevy dealer so they can fix the ECL. In fact, they do a good, timely job. Wow. Cool.
I start the car to go home and hey, what's this, the little round fascia ring that surounds the ign keyhole is dangling about the key switch.
A little piece that I'd never even noticed is now going to attract my attention every time I start the car.
OK, I let them know imediately and they said that they would take care of it, but not after insisting that they had nothing to do with that area.
Well, thanks to this forum, when I return for the fix, I will have proof in the GM recall notice that states not only does this area get affected, but it strongly urges them to be careful here.
I guess that my post here is just to substanciate all those with concerns about the dealer touching their car.
Slowtraffic.... That part must be especially fragile. I put in the CLB, had problems with it, so I later took it out. In order to put the CLB in, you have to remove the lower dash panel, which "slides" over the ignition fascia. I must have loosened/damaged it when I took the panel off, 'cause my fascia doesn't dangle, but it's now really loose around the ignition switch.
You described my situation exactly. It is VERY loose. They now are saying that the fascia ring is damaged and they have to order a new one. I don't think that that's the problem.
The fun has just started though. Now the car is giving the "pull key and wait 10 sec" warning and they can't clear it. I am going to re-post about that. Thanks for your input.
