It is also important to know if you ave a MANUAL AC system or an AUTOMATIC AC system.. In other words "Duel Climate Control"
I looked up the operating system pressure and it will be 28-32 psi low side depending on the outside air temp. High side will be 119-260 PSI depending on the outlet air temp.

I have a 98 automatic ac system. So, if the psi is below 119 or above 260 i guess it's possible for the unit not to work. I'm going to have a friend put a gauge on it 2morrow and hope that the pressure is to high and need to let some out to work. TKS JOHN
Those HIGH pressures are read on the HIGH Pressure side with the AC compressor "RUNNUNG". You will not see those types of pressures on the system with the compressor off. The pressure in the HIGH and LOW side equalize when the system is OFF and will read close to the same on each side. (around 50-70 psi as a good SWAG)
So,,,,,,,,unless the system is running, dont look for those pressures.
Well my car goes in today for the flickering light. I know i have a full charge so I'm hoping it is a electrical problem and not the compressor. Will let you know.
I had the same problem, what it was, there was pressure built up in the system and read normal and no 134A in it so the pump would come on and all there was is hotair. I bled off the pressure and recharged it and it worked fine then.
Just got my car back and "I HAVE A-I-R". It was the Air Temp Sensor--GM Part #10248414. The outside air temp sensor is located in the RH front of the engine compartment, on the radiator support near the horn assembly. Hope this helps. JOHN
Hey Griffgoody, thanks for the update. Glad you got the problem solved. It cant be the outside air temp sensor for me. Mines working fine. Oh well, we'll see.

Hey BrentNY, My car was doing the same thing as yours--blinking light--full charge. They said if the sensor is reading faulty readings, the system will not turn on. JOHN
John, thanks for the update. Were you getting erratic outside temps on your contol unit? Thanks, Brent
YEP. Erratic outside temps/full system(freon)/blinking light. Let me know what your problem was when you get your car back. That sensor was only $9.00 at the dealership. I put it on myself, and i'm far from being a mech. I have a friend thats a manager here at the dealership in GA. He got some of his guy's to hook it up to the computer and let me know what the problem was, and the rest is history. GOOD LUCK---JOHN
If there is a relay for the compressor clutch then pull the relay and jump across where the relay contacts plug in, check the relay cover for pin outs. If the clutch operates in the above manner then the problem is before the relay, don't run it this way for long because any high pressure protection switch will be bypassed.

John and anyone following this thread I did get it back. . There wasnt a good ground to the pressure sensor. That simple. He installed a new pressure sensor anyway so I'm not positive if it was the sensor or the loose ground. Anyway it's fixed and no more flickering lights and I have cold air.
