Wondering how high folks are spinning up their stock bottom end engines? With upgraded springs (977s) how high is too high? Is it possible to turn 7400 rpm, if not what can you get away with?
How long will things last when things are spun up (assuming limited drag racing)? What fails, springs or internals?
If you spin up to 6500-6600 RPM you should be safe with the stock bottom end. Spinning to 7400 RPM with the stock bottom is out of the question, unless you want to blow your engine.
6800 RPMs here. Been set there for 3 years no problems. Pushrods would be the first concern. Make sure they are hardened ones. Bottom end would be a concern going over 7000 RPM. If you were going to Road racing I would'nt set in over 6700 RPMs. My .02
