I have a c-5 with cnc ported head cam long tubes zo-6 intake and corsa exhaust BUT stock air inlet ...the combination made 386-387 rwhp
Would an aftermarket air inlet help improve power and would it be cost effective I E hp gain for money spent
Yes I would say so! If a STOCK C5 can get 10 HP from a Z06 air box, you should get 20with a Black wing!
If I were you I would get a BLACKWING! Period, end of discussion! I just installed a Vararam VB2 and even though it works well there is an issue with the VB2 foam filter. It passes WAY too much dirt!!! It has been VERY WELL documented at least 4 times this week!!!
You will be EXTREMELY happly with the blackwing. You can modify your fog light housing and get the added benifits of coolair!
For the same amount of money, the Halltech Stinger-R intake offers not only a massive, high-quality filter, but also a larger-then-stock airbridge AND a smooth throttlebody coupler. The Blackwing, while providing a very good filter, includes nothing more but a Corvette tax.
You can check out the Halltech Stinger and installation procedure at http://www.conceptualpolymer.com/corvette_c5_corner.htm
In addition, check out my cold air mod to prevent power loss during high underhood temp. conditions.
