what will track prep be like?

They really like us out there. In fact, we only used to do one event a year (Fastest Street Vette in TX) and the track owner asked us to expand it to a multi-race series - hence the Showdown Series of races with the last race in October being the Fastest Street Vette in Tx Showdown!
By the way, the footage in the video is from the most recent race - Showdown IV. Several of the cars in it are 500+ RWHP cars that included a Maggie car, an LPE twin-turbo Z (with John Page himself at the wheel) and N20 cars - all just in that short vid!
The race series itself brings out some fast rides!
Last race we had David Morrow deep into the 9s with his N20'd C5R 427 and Jim Moore knocking on the 9s with his street-driven 540cid(!) '67 convertible!
We even threw in a couple of Lingenfelter 427 TTs deep in the 10s - just for the heck of it!
This race promises to bring out many other fast Vettes so come on out to Hallsville on June 18th. There's a bracket and/or heads-up class with your name on it!

I ,however, have a suggestion for a rules change:
The way the rules are now; if you have a Naturally aspirated small block vette (which is what 95% of vette owners have), there is really no point in going to this event to compete in the NA class. The way the rules are now in the NA class, you will be competing directly against 540+ CID big blocks. Hardly a fair race. I suggest that the rules be changed to make big blocks run in the "WHATCHABRUNG" or power adder class.
BTW, no offense intended to Jim or his beautiful 67 Vette!

). Jim is, however, separated out by the tire regulations. He must run in the BigBoy class due to the fact that he is on slicks (not sure which, exactly, but they are not drag radials.) If you feel you can not compete with Jim, there is always the True Street class, which is a drag radial class. Yes, that is a power-adder class, but I won that class in back-to-back events in my head/cam NA 'vert, so it's absolutely possible to be competitive.
Our rules leave a place for everyone, but remember - there is always someone faster. Please don't bash our event because that someone happens to be in the class you feel you should be in (re: "there is really no point in going to this event..."). We also have bracket classes to accommodate you in the event you don't feel competitive in the True Street class.
Bottom line is get out there and RACE! You never know when the other guy will red-lite, break, etc. Remember this is all for fun anyway.
I honestly hope you'll reconsider and join us for a day of fun racing.Respectfully,
Joe Cruz

Well, unfortunately I'm winding up in Jim's class due to my tire change. (Had to dump the BFGs for ET Streets to handle the new power.) I'm not exactly going after Jim, but I don't race to lose either!
Jim's car is friggin' beast and all I can promise is if I wind up next to him, I'll do my best.
I know how you feel! This sounds like something I'll have to try and make!

We will be having a caravan leaving from the North Mesquite High School off of 635 to the Corvette Showdown in Hallsville.
Mapquest caravan location
Hallsville Gates open at 10:00 am so we will be leaving at 8:00 a.m. If you have FRS radio please bring them we will be on channel 1.20.
Hey Guys that video might have pumped me up to go this weekend. I haven't had the bug again until recently.Joe, can't wait to see your beats run. Should be fun. You always shift like a king anyway.
I just want to beat my 11.42 at 122.58 MPH, but my wife told me (she is busy that day and night, that's why I might be going
) when I raced there the 1st tim, that she was wearing a jacket, so it must have been fairly colder out at that event???? I remeber it being pretty cool. Should be pretty Hot Saturday. This heat will likely hurt times I assume, but it is all relative anyway. I just hope I can beat my time in the Texas heat and drive from Lewisville to Hallsville, do my runs, and drive back to Lewisviile on my BFG Drag Rradials cause that is all I got on my car
I have a set of Nitto 555 DR's on order so I can burn these up pretty good. Nittos stink compared to BFG's for the track, but I am tired of 3k miles out of the BFG's (my 2nd set) and need more spin on the street so I don't break anything.
Hope too see you there guys Saturday
