1 More Time Brake Pad Advice
I am going to change the brakes this weekend. I just got my new Sport Brake rotors and want to find a set of pads that give me the stopping power I want. (lots of it) with no squeal, and as little dust as possible.
Understanding that the order of my criteria are this.
1. Stopping power
2. No Squeal
3. Limited Dust
It's my DD and although I've been known to frighten people at an autocross or heat things up at the strip I do 90% of my driving in the streets or highways.
Advice??
I think finding a pad that doesn't make noise, doesn't dust, and offers improved braking is somewhat of a 'unicorn' if you will. Kinda like having a tire that sticks like a slick but lasts 50k miles. Not gonna happen, it's all about compromise.
I like Porterfields so much that I put them on both of my cars (Camaro SS and Corvette). They make some sick sick race pads too which do not dust too bad either (although they are VERY noisy under light braking).
I'd avoid Hawk just in case anyone suggests it. They are extremely dusty. 10x worse than stock. Ceramics are good for low dust and noise but they are generally worse than stock performance, which doesn't seem like it'd fit your bill.
Dope
I will be installing my Wilwood Rotors tomorrow, and was gonna use the stockers, but maybe this is a better Idea. Please let us know.
Thanks,
Sam.
