Default First exhaust upgrade

Bought my first corvette C5 August '04. Want advice on upgrade of exhaust system. Would like a good quality cat-back system. Have read and find a lot of choices. I would think that if I was looking for an X pipe and four oval tips, with a little more growl than stock (but not off the charts) that there is probably a favorite combo or matching components from a single mfg.

Any advice?

zo6 stock ti's seem to be the best bang for the buck. If you want something louder, corsa magnaflow B&B are all about the same, just comes down to personal preference. Happy hunting.

I have the magnaflows. Great sound and growl, but no resonance at cruise. The system itself is the highest quality construction around. But, it is more expensive than most systems. Catback plus an x-pipe will cost between $1000-1200. A cheaper alternative would be the ZO6 titanium exhaust. These also have a sound a little more excited than stock.

First time on the forum. Thanks for the responses. It's a new Magnetic Red Coupe that I'm itching to add some upgrades to. But, wondering whether I should wait till warranty is off. Probably won't wait -having way too much fun. However,. I am treating it really well.

Read a lot of threads. Want to be sure I don't get any back fire from new exhaust.

since you are going to get 100 postings on peference, Ill throw mine in before the thread gets locked

I like my GHLS

One thing about exhausts is they are expensive, not many people change them after dropping a grand +

dont buy on recommendations. Go out and listen to the tones so you know what your getting

Welcome to the asylum!!
I am sure that someone in your area will let you listen to the different combination. I have headers plus high flow cats, xpipe and Corsa Indys. I like the sound -there when I want it, not when I don't. Think about the headers - I'll bet you will want to get them within the next year - consider it now so you do not end up getting an xpipe twice!! I have heard the GHL's and they are real nice too. Someone suggested the Z06 pipes - Headers and the Z06 pipes are a good system to think about. Someone in your area probably has it already. You usually can get the Z06 titanium system at a good price as others "upgrade."

I'm actually going to a specialty shop this weekend with a fellow corvette brethren. Guess I'll have to listen to some systems. As I said, I hope the upgrade won't effect my warranty seeing I only have about 3000 miles on the car.

Again, thanks for all the advice.

CAT BACK WILL NOT VOID YOUR WARRENTY. GM sells corsa at many of there dealers as GM certified.
