Default 2001 vs 2002 Powerplants (Beginer ??)

Here is a question for you guys... (I am still a newbie, so dont trash me too hard here) I recently had an 03 coupe, and was NOT happy with it at all. It had lots of little electrical issues w/ the windows and locks that I wasnt happy with so I dumped it.

So here is my question. What exactly is the difference b/t the -2001 and 2002+ powerplants? .. and cars in general for that matter (Coupes that is ) Is there any worries with say an 01 vs the newer cars, or is it smarted to buy a newer vette? Is there any other worries or woes with an older car like an 01 with say 5k on it and sat its entire life in a garage?

The reason I ask is b/c I am actively shopping for another vette, and have found a few older (01) coupes that have under 7k on them, and was wondering if they would be good/bad cars to go after and what the difference was with them.

I am sure this was talked about MANY times before here, but I have not found any straight forward answers via the search engine here.

THanks in adavance for any info

I'm hardly an expert (just got my vette) but I believe the big change was from 2000 to 2001. The newer motor has 5 more hp and 25 more lbs torque. There are also quite a few other upgrades starting in 01. I wouldn't be concerned about buying an 01 over an 02, I don't think there were any major changes.

I know my o3 had 350hp, and the 01 has 345... not much of a difference, but I am just wondering what all got changed...

Anyone else wanna chime in?

No, the 2001 went to 350hp from 345 hp in 2000.

Performance wise, 97-00 Vettes have 345hp/350 torque. 01-04 A4 Vettes have 350hp/360 torque, M6 has 350hp/375 torque. The main difference between 97-00 and 01-04 was the air intake manifold.

Honestly you'll be better off buying a car that's been driven frequently over a "Super Garage Queen". Not saying buy a high mileage car, but 5K miles a year is still occasional use, and will be less likely to develop the issues that arise from sitting for long periods of time (1700 miles a year?? )
