Default Battery being drained

2000 C5 has a new Die Hard Gold. It is only 2 months old.
Battery charging system is good. If cars sets for two days or more battery is dead and car does not start.

Today I checked for battery drain current with all accessories off.
Current draw is 4.6 Amps. If I pull fuse 25 and 5 it drops to .3 amps.

Fuse 25 is the Body Control Module, Fuse 5 is the radio CD player. It seems the body controle module is drawing the most current. Where is it and why would it have failed ? I need some expert advice on how to resolve this problem.

Thanks,
Kloller

I have the same problem . I isolated the radio as the source, pulled fuse 5 and I was able to start the vette after it set 2 weeks. Prior to pulling the fuse the battery would drain in 4 to 5 days.

Now I need to find out what is wrong with the radio. GOod luck!

WOW, 4.6 amps is a lot Kloller. Even .3amps is way too much draw. Normal is about 40 milliamps (.040 amps). Are you sure you're reading the right scale on the meter? Are you waiting long enough, sometimes 4-5 minutes, for all systems to stabilize after connecting the meter? Are the interior lights on (door open) when measuring?

I had the same problem as VETTEV above - the radio. Draw was 360 mils and 4-5 days til death. 30 milliamps with no radio, 39 mils with new radio. Good luck and keep us informed please?

Default battery drain problem solved

There is a mod that cost about 50.00 that per the information it will not allow the battery to be drained dead. Cut off will maintain the battery for the car to be started. It was in the catalouge from Mid America. Has any one used this mod on there battery/charging system successfully

I pulled codes and had many set. I wrote them down and then reset all codes. Wife drove car to work and then I pulled codes again.
Below is codes that were set. I did not check current flow again but will do so when wife gets home tonight. I was busy pulling fuses for 10-15 minutes and yes current scale was correct. I removed the fuse for the interior light so they were not on. Radio was also not on.

40-BCM B02578 RF Turn Signal Monitor Circuit (Short to voltage)
60-IPC U1176 Loss of comminications with RFA
BO-RFA U1096 Loss of Communications with IPC (No State of health Message.

I have been having problem with traction system warning so I suspect Right front axle speed sensing unit is crapping out.

What is loss of communication with IPC ?

We continue to have problems with the RF running light/turn signal going out. I have checked it and it appears tha when the car gets wet this happens. The bulb housing is cracked from heat on the top which allows water to drip on to the bulb.

So where is the turn signal monitoring circuit ? I find it hard to believe this is where all the current is going , but what do I know.

Other ideas related to the battery drain problem?

Default Battery Drain found

Looks like the Radio was the problem. With radio fuse in it draws about 1 amp. With radio fuse meter shows 90 millamps. CENZO was correct in that I was not waiting long enough for all systems to go to sleep. It takes 2 - 3 minutes.

Now what new radio radio fix ? CD player has already quit working ? Suggestions ?

Call Gene at the Karshop or Nate at Corvette Garage and get another radio. Or find one on the forum. I can't get anyone to look at my radio. I tell them it works but just draws too much current when it's off. Radio guy looks at me like I'm crazy.

I know Alpine makes one and I'm sure there are others who make them. A good auto audio shop should have some recommendations. Have fun choosing and good luck.
