I noticed today my oil dip stick has burned oil in the middle of the stick. I assume it is because of the location of the dip stick and any oil on the stick in that area will get very hot.
Also, the C5 oil dip stick is very flimsy compared to the C4 dip stick.
My C5 dip stick is burnt in the middle as well and I only have 20K on the clock!
I was very disappointed the first time I pulled the dip stick on my C5. Complete junk compared to the dip stick in my 97 Cobra, which is a cable with a weighted end. here is a picture.
I'd say the Cobra dipstick would be more accurate because if the bends twists and turns in the C5 dip stick get distorted at all, there goes the accuracy. A good aftermarket mod would be to steal the Cobra's design.

Glad to I'm not the only one with a burnt dip stick. But I disagree with the thought our dip stick is not accurate. Not like it gets twisted as it can only move so much in the tube. But I would like to see a dip stick like the cable kind. I had one in another vehicle before, it's much easier to put back into the engine.
