Default Transmission Problem???

I started my A4 '00 coupe today and noticed a slight rattle below...perhaps around the cats but not sure. I drove to work and while in drive it suddenly just reved up when I accelerated and didn't go anywhere...just coasted as the rpms rose. It did this a couple of times so I put it in 1st accelerated then to 2nd accelerated and then to 3rd where it did the same thing and just reved up the rpms and didn't go anywhere. It appears that that's where the problems is taking place so I had to drive home in 2nd gear. My car is an automatic and I 'm not quite sure what to make of this. As a side note, on my way home I also noticed that as I idled the oil pressure would drop slightly and when I accelerated again it'd go up to 40 and if I punched it it would go up some more. The car also seemed to run a little hot when idling. I made it home safely with no noticeable problems but any ideas what's wrong here. I'm thinking something with the tranny of course.

Sounds like you need to have the trans rebuilt. How many miles on it??

Well see, that's the problem and the thing that's really aggrivating me but at the same time easing my fears. I just had the tranny rebuilt a year ago and I might've put 700 miles on it so it's still got plenty of the warranty. The dealership is responsible if that's the problems but I do hate having to take my car to dealerships!

Yor 3-4 clutch paks are history. the dealership will try to replace this, however I would demand a COMPLETE rebuild again. I went through this same exact CRAP myself. The dealership just replaced the 3-4 clutch paks. After a month I was back in the same boat, pissed me off. The dealership finally put a new A4 in it, which they should have done in the first place..

I hate that you had the same problem but I'm glad I'm not the only one. These are the kind of things that give the dealerships bad names. So the dealership put a new A4 in it for you the second time and not just rebuilt it? What kind hassle did they give you? I'm taking my car by thunder racing here in baton rouge to see what they think before I take it to the dealership so they can then correct their mistake!

Default Re-Built Time

Time to call Rodnet at RPM Transmissions, he will rebuilt it and make it stronger!

Wouldn't mind doing that but if it turns out to be what we're thinking the dealership is going to fix it on their dime!!

did you recieve any kind of codes on your DIC ? I have gone thru 3 & i had a 756 code 3rd & 4th body valve soleniod would not shift into 3rd or 4th matter of fact my car is down now because of this , letting chuck @ flp build me a level 4 says its good up to 550 rwhp. Here is the thing u have to ask yourself , if u let the dealer put u another one in & the le 460 is in stock trim if you have had any mods or if you are gonna mod you are wasting your time & money with a stock tranny i would not put another stock tranny in my car it wont hold up, just my 02 cents worth have a good day

The only codes I'm showing are:

28-TCS C1243 H C
A6-SCM B2605 H
BO-RFA C2100 H
C2105 H
C2115 H

My deal is that I haven't done any mods to the car since the dealership rebuilt the tranny and I have the warranty for the work and tranny they did so if it comes down to it, I want them to pay for whats wrong. Would love to go to a different trans but don't have the money. If it's the tranny that's the problem and their fault they're gonna fix it. As David said earlier, I'd like them to have to put a new A4 in it.

I apologize. They put in a new rebuilt transmission. I asked about a new trans and the dealership told me that they order them from General Motors and have already been rebuilt. No problems so far. I'd let the dealership pay for it if its under warranty. From what I've read on this forum the stock transmissions are only good for 340-350 rwhp. After that they won't hold up. Sorry for the confusion. The dealership may tell you it is "New" but its actually a "New Rebuild" whatever that means. Who comes up with the wording on this??

Yah, I understand what you're saying....a new, rebuild. I don't think those words go together :-) However, If I have to make them give me a "new rebuilt one" I'm going to do that but would like to go aftermarket at some point because that does scare me about the stock trannys not holding up.

I'd ask them what the price differential would be to have them install the C6 auto which is stronger. 4l65-e and pay the difference.Rossler gets $3000 for his and guarantees they will hold up to 600rwhp, Brian Tooley [TEA]didnt break his till he got to 700+ with juice...

Thats a good idea, I might try that but first I'm gonna let Shane at Thunder Racing take it for a run monday and we're gonna see exactly what's going on before I take it back to the dealer. I wouldnt mind then trying for the c6 auto but money always seems to be an issue with me

flp has a LE465 the level 5 for 2,850 there is a guy on there website that has it in his car he is putting down 750 rwhp & he has numerous trips to the strip with no issues @ all good luck with the choice you make on your transmission i understand about the money issue i am in the process of putting in flp level 4 & i hope it puts an end to my transmission blues , Flp is telling me there level 4 that is a built A4 will hold up to 550 rwhp i should be fine i am pushing 400 to the tires & possibly will go with a 100 shot that will be it for my mods gl & have a good day
