Default noisy $9,000 mod. WTF! please help

Buddy of mine just got his procharger kit A&A Kit (installed) this thing is so noisy (just like 2 spoons in a garbage disposal / major metal to metal sound, not a whine sound, a clanky noise) everyone around the car on the street looks at this thing like its going to blow up. He is ready to have this thing taken back out after only 3 days. Is there any way to quiet it down. I have been around all types of hot cars for well over 30 years and never would I consider this a "cool sound". Is there something broken? How can anyone want these things if you sound like crap sitting at a light????? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Problem is solved on the Noisy S/C!!
after getting the new unit from andy, we put it on and......lost 75% of that terrible noise. Sure enough, it was a bad (or just damn loud) head unit. The car still makes great amounts of HP and it even sounds like a car again.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO OFFERED ADVICE!!!!
as for me...I'm off to Cancun for 8 days. Need a break from the daily grind.

I and a friend have had the same setup. Sounds like something is loose at idle right??? That is the way the tolerences are set on the ATI head-unit. Every one I have been around sounds that way. That is just they way they sound .... sorry...

Sounds like the normal ATI "box of rocks" loud metal sound at idle. They all sound like this. Ugly sound. Thats why I am going with the magnacharger...Quiet at idle, supercharger whine with throttle...

Thanks, Just hard to believe that for the kind of money people spend on this setup that the "box of rocks" sound is acceptable. When i asked
for peoples opinion berfore i purchased the unit nobody even hinted that it was noisy, so i'm still wondering if maybe something is wrong with mine, maybe a bit too noisy??

Maybe take a video or audio recording of the sound inside the car, outside the car and some of the guys can give you a better idea if it's normal or not?

I would give Andy a call direct. He almost always answers his phone (even on the weekends) because the shop phone forwards directly to his cell. I would ask him what he thinks and even hold the phone up to it. It may not solve the problem (and then again it may), but he should qualify as an expert.

I have a couple of friends that have these and the BOTH sound the same way.

I thought is sounded like Sheite so I decided against it. If they don't eventually come up with a way to bolt a whipple or Magnacharger on my F-body/LS1, then I'm goin' turbo!

Sorry he found out the hard way

This is not going to help, but the Vortech SQ system is quiet... I remember when I bought my ATI the noise was the only bad thing compared to the Vortech...

Mine has a high pitch whistle noise and not mcuh rattling. When my idler went bad, it had a grinding/ratling noise.

If I'm not mistaken, the Magnacharger system requires a hood change. Getting the color to match can be tricky if you have a mag red C5. If the Vortech SQ is much quieter AND does not need a high-rise hood, then that sounds like the way to go.

This is apparently a normal sound for the Procharger kit. Two cars in my Corvette club have this system, and they both sound exactly alike.
When I first heard it I thought it was a bad pulley bearing. However, if you can live with the noise, the performance of the car with this supercharger is AMAZING!!
