Random alarm activation
The car is locked in a garage with no pets, kids, etc. to bother it but every once in awhile the alarm just starts going off.
Battery is good. There's been no electrical changes other than the replacement of a defective temperature actuator on the passenger's side.
The shop manuals aren't much help. Hopefully someone has an idea what's up.

If I connect a trickle charger, keeping the battery voltage around 12.8 volts or above, there is no problem. If I disconnect the battery charger and let the battery voltage fall to around 12.4 volts, the alarm will sound.
It's really wierd. I was looking at the car this Sat, not touching it at all, and I heard a click and the horns began to sound. I didn't have my key and before I got it, the alarm stopped. After a minute or two, the alarm sounded again, maybe 4-5 times then stopped (before I could get the key to the ignition). Then the alarm sounded again, just one time, and stopped. It didn't sound again for a couple of hours, and I got tired of waiting so reconnected the trickle charger (the people next door have a new baby).
If anyone has any ideas, let us know. Thanks.
It would randomly lock the doors and sometimes beep the horn (just a chirp not a full blast like the alarm) and sometimes lose sync with the remote.
My thinking took me to try 3 things.
The remote I was using was failing--I set it on a shelf so no movement (a '99 with passive remote)
The grounds might be bad. -I cleaned ground G-104 that I heard was the ground for the remote receiver. There were some good posts on the forum that showed where all the grounds are. Try looking at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...tion-long.html
The battery might be going bad. -I put in another known good battery and put it on a maintainer.
Since then, I have not had any issues, so I suspect it was one of those 3 things. I have since not been using the maintainer and no problems. I am going to start using the questionable remote and see if the problem comes back, and then I will probably swap the battery back to check that too.
Good luck
