UPDATE----Everybody PLEASE HELP with c5 Problem!!!!!!
Yesterday on my way home from work I noticed a horrible whining sound. It starts about 50-55 mph and stays there all the way up from there. The sound will Stop if I take my foot off of the gas! It almost sounds like a siren (without the getting louder and quiter motion of a siren---just 1 continuous sound).
I have never ever heard this sound in any car I have ever driven and it JUST started yesterday.
My car is a Automatic 2001 Corvette with 46,000 miles on it. I think I am going to be VERY glad I have extended warranty!!!!!
With this sound there are NO check engine lights, no messages in DIC, car runs and drives fine.
THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reason: update
Belt maybe? If its not throwing any codes, then that would be a likely suspect. Sounds almost like bearings going out but I would check the belts, especially since the whine increases as you stomp on it. ALso, I would check out the Tech section as well and see if someone can help.
Also, it does NOT do it if I put in Park or N and rev up a little. It is ONLY heard when in gear and foot on gas. No matter what the speed, as soon as I take foot off of gas, whining will stop!

do you notice more power? Someone that likes you might of snuck a supercharger in your car! But all kidding aside, it might be your diff.. although I thought there would be other symptoms.. anywho you have the extended warranty, so I cracked a joke in the beginning on my post.. Hope you get it worked out.. make an appointment to the stealer and have whatever is wrong fixed for FREE!
Well I work at a chevy dealership so it should not be a problem getting fixed. Funny b/c car will be in shop anyway tomorrow getting LOOSE driver seat fixed under warranty!!!! Never thought that was going to happen.

He works at a dealership. That's why he is asking here. He would like a correct answer!
We actually have a pretty darn good service dept.......but nothing can ever beat what you guys and girls here experience 1st hand with problems and solutions to those problems.
I can't believe that the original factory rear diff would go with only 46,000 miles. And only been to the track 2 times & never any slicks or drag radials on it.
M6 come with 3.42's correct? I am going to try and talk service advisor into "Accidently" order the wrong part # :o)
Will keep all updated....will know something tomorrow. Also, I get to keep all parts removed from car under warranty. So, somebody may want old rear diff to rebuild.

It's your rearend gears. Have you been using your foot brake while doing burnouts? I did, and my rearend is whining terrible.
It won't hurt it to drive it as long as you need to, the whine will just drive you crazy!
